| Situated
close to Harrogate's celebrated Royal Pump Rooms, Hales Bar has a history going back to the earliest days of the town's emergence as a leading spa resort. It originated as one of the first of the inns for spa visitors that sprung up after sulphur wells were first established in the mid-17th century. Sulphur springs still flow beneath the cellar and their distinctive odours occasionally percolate up to the bar. |
Although
the smaller bar has lost its historic character, the main saloon bar preserves
it well with mirrors and other interesting features and fittings from the Victorian era including fully working gas lighting. Hales Bar offers a cosy friendly atmosphere serving home made food daily with a wide selection of cask beers, wines and spirits, hot beverages and soft drinks. Monthly party nights are very popular with occasional live music and karaoke. |
